Pedophiles and Universal Access to Web 2.0
Today sex offender photos are posted on the web. But this does little good without universal access to the web. Access is needed at the park, bus stop school where kids are in potential danger. The USA can easily give universal access by designating TV channels 60 through 68 as the dot commons and not allowing multi-national corporations to purchase and control the 700 mhz spectrum, as they currently are working hard to do.

If Microsoft's photo standard is supportive of photo identification of sex offenders then a quick phone photo will be able to distinguish between the old guy just walking his dog and the former religious minister who has or may not have registered with the police in the area.

But if the Microsoft photo standard hinders such identification because such tools currently use JPEG than harm is being done. For the good of society Microsoft should back off, in that case.
