Spelling it out for Loverock
First of all, you never proved anything. You stated some generic half-truths (i.e. "Microsoft on the other hand has been consistently turning a profit quarter after quarter, year after year." without saying "and so has Google." Because Google has been just as consitent with their profits as Microsoft) and called that "proof."

Microsoft's prices have fallen significantly (6%) since July 19--the same day that Google's started to drop. Before then MSFT was all over the place while GOOG has climbed more steadily and consistently in the past three years than MSFT.

"Google missed expectations, it means their funding is slipping and soon they will be going into the hole." You need to go back to Econ 101. Slightly missed expectations are hardly going to slip $2.3B quarterly profits into the hole.

GOOG has a higher net profit margin (that's "Aftertax net income divided by net sales, a measure of management's ability to carry a dollar of sales down to the bottom line for the stockholders. In other words, net profit margin refers to that which is left for the owners from a dollar of sales after all expenses and taxes have been paid."). That means they are more efficient with their spending than Microsoft.

MSFT has been traded on the public market since 1986 (21 years) and GOOG has been on the market since 2004 (3 years). In those past three years, the stock value of Google has grown 369.6%. Microsoft has grown only 8.78%. Yahoo has fallen 16.94%. In the past three years Google has shown itself to be a market bull. One week of bad trading is hardly enough to bring down a company this size.

When it comes to investments Google is solid and Microsoft reliable. I would buy either. But it is impossible to ignore the numbers; Google is growing at a tremendous rate and with their current hiccup in pricing can be bought at a bargain rate while an investment in Microsoft will barely keep up with inflation.

If that's not enough information to be pertinent, I don't know what is. I'm not the one blindly pointing fingers here. I have all the facts to back it up, not just the ones I like.
