umm, isn't missing collaboration features a problem in an email client?
All that is missing is the collaboration elements. If this is important to you, then yes, this is a major lack. However, for the home user, collaboration is no big deal and there are many workarounds, both in terms of free and paid third party programs.

I mean, email is an async collaboration paradygm!

Now if your saying adding synchronous collaboration features to an email client "improves the experience" we can just look at how the business process automation features added to MS's email strategy enabled the current round of MS VIRII as exactly the proof of why good design KEEPS THINGS SIMPLE.

Use your collaboration tool for collaboration (and not email) and use your email tool for email (not collaboration) and you are less likely to see cross linked bugaboos which simply break the bank from a support perspective!

Companies are starting to take note of the Billions of dollars in lost productivity and support costs (adding up to trillions) dealing with MS's "features" ... the savings of Windows are easily offset by the increased costs of the out of control remote control tools ... use non-MS clients and save yourself Billions if you are a big user!
