Why would you teach them command line
Unless it is a computer science class. They have these newfangled things called "icons" to do such things as launch programs (e.g., StarOffice). If this is your idea of "second rate," it just shows you're more macho than most. I like a stick shift as well, but I don't belittle those that prefer the automatic.

P.S. - been in the computer indusrty since 1966, but don't try to remember command lines - I have other things to do with my time.
