IT salaries vary greatly by country

This is no big surprise

I currently make $52,000 per year. Recently I revieved job offer where they offered $106,000 per year. Sounds like I should have taken it right? But I turned it down after some research. To buy a house the same as I have here it would cost me $280,000 where my current house was bought for $78,000. Over there I'd have to pay $600 a month for parking where here I pay $30. My utilities over there would have been $300 where mine are $150. Every thing over there costs at least double what I'm paying where I am.

Then if you take taxes in consideration that job at $106,000 per year would actually give a less quality of life than I currently have.

Making less where cost of living is less is by far the better deal.
