I was...
...A Vista Beta tester. I used it for a few months, but nothing worked on Vista, and it severely stifled my above-average computer's performance. My hardware all worked, granted, but I'm an avid gamer, and as such, I know that not every good game was made in the last few months, and anything older than a few months would not work on Vista, and the compatibility modes were useless.

It's nice that you're enjoying Vista, but not everyone does. On the contrary, most are not happy with it, because 1.) it requires above average systems just to run properly, thus adding to the ridiculous $300-500 pricetag on the OS itself; 2.) it lowers performance on any system it's installed on due to it's unreasonably high resource hogging; 3.) it's compatible with very few older programs and games: "as are about 2,000 software programs (compatible with Vista)"

2,000 software programs. Wow, out of the probably tens of millions out there?

" including 49 of the current 50 best-selling retail titles, he says."

Of course most new software is going to be made Vista compatible, but life didn't start with the release of Vista. There's still years and years of good games and programs, many of which do not have a Vista-compatible equivalent, that are now useless.

and 4.) XP works just fine, and is compatible with everything, even most DOS programs. What reason could anyone possibly have for spending $300-500 on a new OS, $1000 or so on new hardware, and a month of trying to figure out how to make everything work, only to have half the programs that they use no longer work, with no real improvement or benefit in return?

Vista has alot of potential, but it's lack of compatibility, it's ridiculous resource requirements, and laughable pricetag limit it to use only by the small number of people who are lucky enough to have all the right software, hardware, income, and astrological sign for their Vista switch to be successful and productive (only under a new moon).
