Open source Java would rule...
Open sourcing Java would allow for some great things. There are already open source implementations of Java: GCJ, Kaffe, IKVM. All of these implementations conform to the Java standards and thus there is no fragmentation. Sun's JRE is one of the fastest and most complete. It will be great when they open it up.
