Loverock's Conscience Speaks...
1. "Device that works, not one that we have to reprogram every couple of days"

Explain why you would have to reprogram the device every "couple of days"? Reprogram what? Or are you referring to the Windows applications I have to download every "patch Tuesday"?

2. "... nor one that constantly kernel panics"

Linux no more "constantly kernel panics" than my old Windows XP installation "constantly did a blue screen of death". There are unrecoverable errors in OS's. Speaking of which if you want to see some very public, and very funny, BSOD http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Screen_of_Death

3. "Linux has shown that it is not suitable for mobile devices"

See http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Neo1973

4. "It will open a gateway to .... based on shells that allow telnet services"

UNLIKE WINDOWS Linux does not enable telnet services by default http://www.developertutorials.com/tutorials/linux/enabling-linux-telnet-060308/page1.html

5. "overly restrictive license..."

Of course, this is the GPL - the bane of Loverock's existence. Naturally the GPL, unlike Windows EULA, INCREASES your freedom rather than restrict it. In the GPL's preamble:

"Preamble

The GNU General Public License is a free, copyleft license for software and other kinds of works.

The licenses for most software and other practical works are designed to take away your freedom to share and change the works. By contrast, the GNU General Public License is intended to guarantee your freedom to share and change all versions of a program--to make sure it remains free software for all its users. We, the Free Software Foundation, use the GNU General Public License for most of our software; it applies also to any other work released this way by its authors. You can apply it to your programs, too.

When we speak of free software, we are referring to freedom, not price. Our General Public Licenses are designed to make sure that you have the freedom to distribute copies of free software (and charge for them if you wish), that you receive source code or can get it if you want it, that you can change the software or use pieces of it in new free programs, and that you know you can do these things."

Unlike Vista's EULA, which has been described as "Licensed Censorship" see http://www.gripe2ed.com/scoop/story/2006/10/24/0456/5625

Loverock uses the concept of the Big Lie in a manner that would make the most hardened propagandist blush! Shame on you!
