but is MS bundling a copy of these apps with every OEM PC?
After all, that is how WORD displaced its competitors ... folks bought WORD on MAC and avoided WORD on Windows because ... well ... it sucked! MS gave it away until it had a large enough installed base to look like a contender and they enhanced it and sold upgrades.

Prety shrewd ... give away the crappy product no one will buy, then sell the upgrade to make it work. Come to think of it, that's how Windows got established too!
