Response to BALTHOR
Just for the record, one thing I could never be mistaken for is a Microsoft fanboi or shill. I'm just about the opposite of a noted poster on these forums, "No_Ax_to_Grind".

While I agree with a lot of your sentiments (though I don't think I'd choose "tyrant" and definitely not "terrorist"), your assertion that one quick patch could end viruses forever is very much off the wall.

Microsoft's operating systems are garbage from the ground up, and security was bolted on the side as an afterthought. No patch or group of patches will ever fix their operating systems. About the only way they could be fixed would be to throw out all the old code completely, write a new OS from scratch with security and stability designed in from the ground up, not releasing it until it's done and done right. Which isn't going to happen.

The alternative is to use operating systems that WERE designed with security and stability designed in from the ground up. Yes, I'm talking about Mac OS X (for those of you who have to have a proprietary operating system) and Linux.
