Questions for Jeremy
Jeremy, Hopefully you are reading this and help to provide some insight for us.

All childish sniping aside on this forum, and any personal feelings I have regarding your stance, your move to GPLv3 does bring up a number of questions that my business customers may have and I'd like to be fair about SAMBA's role here...

It would appear that at this time, there isn't any truly robust and functional alternative to SAMBA when customers want interoperability between their Linux and Windows servers. I fully recognize that most customers aren't going to fully analyze the benefits of GPL2 vs GPL3. They just want something that works, and works now!

But software companies/groups/projects will bicker it out for some time and customers could be caught in the middle. Dem's da breaks I guess.

One of the advantages of the Novell/Microsoft pact was that they agreed to develop interoperability. I saw SAMBA as the key bridge to interoperability. Since you're no longer at Novell, you no longer have direct access to those discussions. (Although I would hope Microsoft would still want to work with you.) What impact will that have on the development of SAMBA GPL3?

Also, what would be your stance on on SAMBA GPL3 if it is installed on Suse if Novell and Linux continue to be on GPL2? Will you allow it to be fully supported even if you don't like the continuing pact between Novell and Microsoft?

There's alot of questions I have about the move to GPL3 since SAMBA is clearly one of the biggest driving forces for Linux adoption. I'd really like to hear a more indepth commentary from you regarding what the future holds for customers in this area.

Thanks,
