Microsoft Office 2003?
What the? Why is Mass purchasing Office 2003? This story is alarming in that Office 2003 is no longer being preloaded by OEMs. So the draft proposal is very backwards looking. In fact if the draft proposal goes forward Mass goes backward. Lets not forget that several Mass IT leaders lost jobs over the battle for industry standardization on ODF. The thuggery continues with the draft proposal. It should be withdrawn.

On a positive note, the former CEO of Corel now heads Microsoft's efforts with SharePoint. The Corel Office product is SharePoint like in many respects.

Hence, from a purely technical standpoint, Microsoft has lost; the competing technology has won.

That competing technology is likely in Office 2007. Lets get on with industry standardization but also bring the criminals in our industry to justice. Those criminals are involved with the draft proposal.

Let no government agency build to Office 2003 because it is not foundation technology; it is tax payer rip off.

Are the authors of the draft proposal known? What are their names? Are they government employees? Are they Microsoft employees? Are they connected to Microsoft? Is this article for real or is it just a waist of bandwidth because the future so clearly does not involve the technology discussed.

Or and I think this true, is the draft proposal cover-up for wrong-doing in Massachusetts. Did tax payers in Massachusetts pay for technology that was not authorized by policy and law? Are decision makers covering up for that by draft proposals that imply the policy was some how unclear. Who are they? Let them do the time. We are a forgiving nation but we are only a great nation by holding wrong doers accountable.
