Amazing business strategy!
Look at IBM. They replace their own paid with free programmers. That's both in Unix and in Linux development. Then they leverage open source to win bids to outsource IT. Total employment is going to sink afterwards; that's how IBM makes money.

So that's how IBM makes money! Surely this strategy cannot have gone unnoticed by the press. Could you provide links that elaborate on this strategy? Do they trust to luck in meeting the customers' urgent needs to keep IBM products running? Just how many of the company's 300,000 employees have to be shed in order to eek out profit from $90 billion in revenue? As I recall, IBM only ranks 9th or so on the Fortune 500 list. How do the first 8 make money - or are they all losers?

Why don't you contact IBM on my behalf and tell them to keep their recruiters away from our senior level software engineers? Clue these guys in on your strategy. It's nothing short of fascinating, but I wouldn't want to bet my company on it.
