This is going to be a very special moment in the history of Free Software.
A big thanks to Richard Stallman, Eben Morgan, and all of the others working behind the scenes to make the GPL3 the best license on the planet. It will be very exciting to see how fast some of the projects adopt the new license. I expect SAMBA and MySQL will be some of the first to switch.

Really, there are two categories that have a lot of reasons to switch to GPL3. The really pure and open projects like SAMBA that want all of the added protections, and "professional open source" companies like MySQL.

But, also look for SUN to accelerate work on all of the legal ramifications and release Java and Solaris under the GPL3 asap.

So here's my question  Michael Kelly | 06/28/07
No, with the GPL2 or newer clause, you can release under EITHER the GPL2 or  DonnieBoy | 06/28/07
No, open source does NOT automatically move  No_Ax_to_Grind | 06/28/07
I never asked about Linux  Michael Kelly | 06/28/07
