MS needs to divest from software as much as possible
get itself out from the label of monopoly and its barriers to expanded markets, consider splitting itself into leaner, multiple platform abled baby MSes, and invest heavily into resources that are finite and profittable, such as the components that constitute their competitors and partners products, such as the raw materials that go into each and every PC, cellphone, smart appliance, right down to the nuts and bolts of it. If they truly wanted to be everywhere, no better place than inside. Then, software as a side, they could still be heavily in the markets, but software is so easily replicated, it's almost a cheap commodity and some of it so open, you can only rely on servicing at a cost rather than selling it itself, IMO. The infinite nature of the beast.
