Right Move
Though an older machine didn't run the JDS CD demo, my latest AMD based computer ran it without a hitch. Looked good and behaved solidly. It was a typical modern Linux distro with accessory packages stripped out. Removing all the extra stuff that many people would not use simplified the environment I guess they are focusing on the office and don't want people spending all their time steering penguins down hills, sliding on their stomachs.

Sun has to keep up energy in this department. A good looking and inexpensive client for their server systems is an essential component of their server centric architectures.

Also, the Linux desktop is an exciting area at this time with a lot of new things happening. It would be a mistake for Sun to sit out and be left behind in this area.
