OSS Moves up and down the stack
Untangle's announcement to go open source and the reasons they cite for making the shift underscore the fact that OSS has moved way beyond Linux in terms of penetrating the enterprise adoption barrier. No longer relegated to niche apps and functionality, OSS has taken its place up and down the stack with viable, competitive offerings that in many cases, outshine commercial counterparts. It's a welcome sight to see more OSS security vendors as they can further stamp out the FUD that still exists at the top-level, and help to usher in an "all OSS, all the time" enterprise business model.
