Sometimes waiting isn't the worst thing you can do
Individual users in general know less about their software than the distro itself does. Heck, I compile my own and I never even knew this option existed, and I've been on 2.6.21 for well over a month. Sometimes it's best to wait for the distro to test it out and make sure there are no unwanted side effects, not only to the base system but the all the user software.
