OPEN SOURCE NOT ABOVE THE LAW
This is not about robbing banks. Those who approve patents are not Popes and are thus subject to fallibility as to the uniqueness of a particular patent application. Given the number of people developing software it is highly likely there are many patents that in fact overlap or are at least in part public domain.
MS would do better to make software that works rather than attempt to apparently strong-arm its competition.
The more things change the more they stay the same. In its heyday, IBM attempted certain business practices that appeared to be questionable. Is MS surcoming to the same temptation? Looks like MS is getting worried about its cash cow Windows?
