Mandriva latest to reject Microsoft

What a huge mistake Mandriva is making. Boy is that chief executive clueless. With leaders like him its no wonder linux is falling faster than a deflated balloon.

"Interoperability between the Windows and Linux world is important and must be dealt with, and anything that helps this interoperability is a good thing," wrote Bancilhon, adding that "the best way to deal with interoperability is open standards."

Um no. The best way is to collaborate with each other which is what Microsoft is offering.

"We also believe what we see and, up to now, there has been absolutely no hard evidence from any of the FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt) propagators that Linux and open-source applications are in breach of any patents. So we think that, as in any democracy, people are innocent unless proven guilty and we can continue working in good faith."

You are guilty. There is hard evidence. Microsoft wouldn't just make up something like this. If they showed you then you would make changes and try to say it never happened. This way Microsoft can prove it in court if it comes down to it.

Bancilhon said bluntly that Mandriva did not believe it was necessary to pay "protection money" to Microsoft or anyone else.

Protection money? This guy has a false sense of reality. Its calling collaborating. Microsoft is here to bail out your failing company and if you were smart you'd take it. Mandriva makes it sound like its some kind of mob squad.

He's thoroughly convinced me to never use Mandriva and I imagine the rest of the linux community thinks the same way. I could never use a product with this type of illogical nonsense and I'm glad to see many more people are agreeing with me. Mandriva, you had your one shot, now you lost all hope.
