Microsoft has zero desire to inovate around a standars compliant client
Microsoft does NOT want any inovation around the browser. They do not want web services to work best from a standards compliant web browser. They really do not want the web browser to evolve any more. They want to introduce windows only technology that would be required on the client end for web services. They are in the perfect position to keep any inovation from happening. Who would use any new features if only 5% of users could use it? They have to keep creating reasons why corporate users will stay on Windows for the desktop. But, at some point, coporate users might install Mozilla (or other) if needed to make web services work. Microsoft is walking a tight rope here. Microsoft is in danger of giving Linux a critical mass on the corporate desktop. This is war.
