um, How about this idea?
Instead of imagining that Google used some nefarious method of getting Microsoft to do this, try this idea on for size: Microsoft decided to listen to their user base, who didn't want to be forced into the desktop search box Microsoft was trying to stuff them into.

Ahh - I think I understand your thinking, now. Microsoft doesn't have a good track record of listening to their customer base, so why should they be expected to start now?

Maybe you're right this time, LD...
