It is a process and not a silver bullet
The list of items reads like a paranoid set of issues that says systems managers and operations cannot handle new technologies. In order to be successful in virtualization deployment is to set policies, assign responsibilities, and provide procedures as to how these issues are handled.

For example, asset management and a comprehensive configuration management is as important for a shop running a single operating system as it does with systems that run a virtualized service. This will take care of the inventory issues, patch management, and understanding what is running on the network.

Security policy and strong enforcement of these services are important in all environments. Since a number of shops run a cross platform environment, management of these are not as big of an issue.

Finally, network management in a heterogeneous environment would work with virtual environments without serious modifications.

The sky is not falling, but needs a pragmatic approach to adapt known and probably existing policies with the virtualized environment.
