The key is to use at least 5% Linux Desktop, or as much as you can.
There is virtually no company that could not put 5% on Linux without problems. Most could easily put 75% or more on Linux. That gives you a lot of leverage when negociating with Microsoft. Also, keep all of your server applications cross platform. Really, most companies could completely eliminate Windows servers with a little planning. And if you have any server applications that are Windows only, now is the time to be eliminating them one at a time. If you want to save money, you need to squeeze Microsoft. You do NOT need to be nice, this is business. For a large company, we are talking millions if you think you need to be nice to Microsoft.
