In related news, CNN ran a report that millions of people DELETED all their "shared" music from their PCs in light of the RIAA lawsuits.

Yeah, right! Can you say "burner?" Sure. I knew you could. I bet the sale of blank media was WAY up during the same period.

Interesting to note-the same report mentioned an 11% drop in sharing for late summer. They also specifically mentioned the fact that the period in question was summer break for college students-the unwritten conclusion being that is why sharing dropped. Bet if they checked the stats now, with college back in session, the numbers are back up.

So there goes the theory that people are running scared due to the lawsuits. If the Napster plan works, work the royalties (use the ASCAP radio model) into the student activity fee or the lab fees one pays for computer access on campus.
