First of all.......
GPL v3 isn't for "linux distros" to adopt or not adopt. It's up to Torvalds. If Torvalds moves the kernel to v3 the "distros" will only have a choice to fork and bear the costs of future development on their own. Not only concerning the kernel but also GNU utils as well as they are certainly going GPL v3.

We've seen the nay sayers predict the demise FOSS for years. They have been proven wrong time and time again. Linspire and Xandros were already insignificant before they sold their souls. Their deals are nothing more than a desperate attempt to become relevant.
