Keep in mind how many contributors there are to Linux. Finding each and everyone of them AND getting their approval would be a massive task.

I should be convinced I'm never going to see you weigh in on a Linux/GPL topic and not get it completely wrong.

Obviously you've never seen the CREDITS file. (I thought you used Linux??) That's one.

Two: It doesn't take ALL Linux contributors to convert to GPLv3. On the contrary, all it takes is one contributor (and Linus accepting the code) and the Linux kernel effectively is GPvL3.

In other words, once Linus gives the go-ahead, Linux will be GPLv3 in an hour.
