- Different development teams
- I am sure that SQL server and the various flavors of the OSes are handled by different development teams within MS. It seems to me that any step toward a more secure computing environment, whether it be in applications or OSes, is a welcome step. I am sure you are aware that there are initiatives afoot within MS to improve the security of the OS as well. And no, I don't believe that MS will succeed in making their OS perfect. Neither will Linux, Unix, or Apple succeed in that regard. I simply hope that they succeed in improving the current situation.
