DRM plainly doesn't work
DRM can't be implemented in a manner to make it workable.

As long as non-drm files can be used, which has to be the case, then DRM fails. All it takes is one hacker to release a non-drm file and have it replicated. Even the most technology challenged individual can record a song to a non-drm format. Sure it won't be perfect but that doesn't matter with p2p.

So to stop this DRM must be 100% restrictive. That means all files are DRMed and controlled by a central authority. So if you make a file on you PC it will only be useable on that PC. If you want to distribute it you pay for to get that ability from the central autority. That authority can be any company offering DRM services.

Now DRM that works as I described would KILL the PC industry!
