Linux is HARDLY extinguished
Linux and Free Software are here to stay. The United States is hardly the entire world, and Linux/FOSS uptake in the rest of the world is growing. Even if Linux were made illegal in the United States (which isn't going to happen), the rest of the world will continue to adopt the software that WORKS, that anyone can review and fix, and has no secret "gotchas". It will grow with or without big-time commercial support. And even if the major U.S. commercial distributors ARE tubed by Microsoft's dirty tricks, ones in other countries will rise to take their place. Ever hear of Canonical, sponsor of Ubuntu, for example?
