you're right, you have much more to do
Innovating yourself is great if you have the money and the time.

Books don't cost that much. If you have the discipline, you can teach yourself...assuming of course you have access to the technology which usually costs more money...just like school costs more money.

So let's say you do this and are successful at it. You've educated yourself and have managed to dream up a project that will let you get some good, unpaid experience using the new technology. That kind of "experience" doesn't "count" in the business world because it isn't paid experience.

Assuming you even get an interview and manage to B.S. the employer past that point, now you've got the same guy talking about outsourcing you for a third of your proposed salary. And the ironic thing is, his job's probably on the chopping block too!

So if you want to do your "duty" for the economy by sacrificing hard-earned dollars to the educational system -- you go right ahead...but don't be surprised when the economy doesn't reimburse you for your efforts.

You see -- what we have today is an economy without any back-and-forth. The "theory" that has proved correct in past economies is that if you work hard, educate yourself and keep your skills sharp -- that the economy will reward you with a job and a career path to greater and greater compensation. In past economies any boob could see that it was just a matter of time before the educational investment you made was paid off.

Now, I'm not so sure.

Better get to work on that doctorates degree. You're going to need it when you go head-to-head against an Indian that's "good enough" and will work for a third of what you need to keep your head above water.

Meanwhile, President Bush keeps pressing on with no intention of adjusting his course...telling the unemployed to "keep the faith"...LOL!!!
