This is a lack of demand for low-skilled IT
personal.

What are the hot skills? Security, networking,
etc. These are trademark features of Linux/
UNIX.

MCSE types will be hit hard. I *have* my MCSE
and I know how worthless it is. UNIX is
currently the #1 skill, followed by Java, J2EE,
and then Oracle.

The faults of MS software have come to roost. I
don't care if you like MS or not, if you want to
make the big bucks it's all about Linux and
Java.

Dice.com job search:

* UNIX - 5400 hits (aka Linux)
* Java - 4840 hits (#1 programing language)
* J2EE - 4840 hits (#1 enterprise application
framework)
* Oracle - 4775 hits (#1 database)

* Windows - 4089 (there are MORE UNIX jobs than
Windows!! And most of these are low-paying
help-desk jobs!!)
* Windows Server - 1770 (ah, here are the real
windows admin jobs. A whole 1770 of them. Wow!
Gee MS you sure own the server market... NOT!!)
* .Net - 2647 hits (Well .Net was a flop. There
are nearly twice as many Java jobs)
* C# - 650 hits (Wow, I'm glad I never wasted
time learning this)

So basically there is little demand for MS types
(and it is shrinking) and a huge demand for UNIX
and non-MS skills (and it is GROWING).

MS skills are out (were they ever in?), Learn
UNIX (aka Linux) and feed your family. Had you
learned UNIX in the first place this wouldn't
even be a problem. UNIX admins/developers have
always been highly paid and they always will be.
