This is where Linux outshines Windows.

Linux's support of multiple processors currently is much better than Windows. One of the main reasons why linux runs on all supercomputers, and Windows? Not one.

But in the applications side of things, especially in the office and home arenas, most, if not all applications, do not take advantage of the multiprocessor system. Coding for these systems is much different, and whole new ways of coding will need to be learned by programmers, to write these applications.

The learning curve, and the amount of single processors already installed and still being sold, will delay the adaption of multiprocessor applications. So don't look for these application soon. Games developers will probably be the first to market a multiprocessor application.

However, as said by No_Ax above, just how fast can you type or read? Systems today are more than fast enough for almost every need. This will also delay the marketing of multiprocessor applications. Yes. it will be cool stuff, but it will be quite a while until you see these apps.
