Reason is obvious...
Novell did this to stay alive. They, and the rest of the Open Source world, are well aware that Microsoft owns patents to everything in the computing world. Microsoft all but invented the GUI so by transitive thinking, anyone who develops a GUI is infringing on patents. Linux is not refined, the interfaces are not robust and the support is poor. Only Microsoft can provide one degree of separation for the agile enterprise and people ready business. Where do you want to go today?
