The simpler answer is NO.
It's been 5 years from Windows XP to Vista. Most users who have bought systems then, are ready for a hardware update, so they are buying new PC's.

It's the new PC's that come with Vista, that is inflating the numbers. If not for the PC sales, Vista would be even a bigger disaster than it is.

So simple, even a rockhead should see it.
