On the consumer side, most people aren't that informed about what goes on underneath the hood of a computer and buy whatever comes on the machine. A couple of my friends are on-site tech support people and they all complain about how clueless people really are about computers. They'd rather have a shiny Sony with a Pentium M that runs really slow, rather than a powerhouse Core Duo Dell. On the corporate and government side, folks don't really have a choice. A couple of our graphics and web development people have been asking for Apple computers for a long time and what do they get in the latest round of upgrades? Dell computers running Windows is what's given to them. I know that they aren't happy but since when did people go to work to find happiness? A more interesting question would be: Are people really happier and more productive using Windows Vista as opposed to Windows XP or OS X? An even more interesting one would be: Are people rushing out to upgrade their machines to run Vista?
