You are right here, but, I think there will be enough momentum eventualy
that Linus will do it. He will begin to see all of the advantages. There are a lot of voices of moderation out there, such as Alan Cox, that will convince him. Linus just have to get over his pride and realize what is best for the community.

And, what are your predictions, how long will it take the following go GPL3: Samba, MySQL, Java, Solaris. Any other predictions on early adopters?

I am sure there will be some surprises come out of the woodwork as former proprietary companies go the dual license model like MySQL.
