"First, the largest open source product (Linux) can NOT be moved to the GPL-3."

The Linux OS (correctly referred to as the GNU/Linux OS) is not a single product, but a collection of products. It is rather probable that a number of those composite products WILL be moved to GPL v3. The Linux kernel itself will probably NOT be moved to GPL v3 ONLY because Linus wants it to stay on GPL v2. But there are other crucial parts of the Linux OS that will be moved to GPL v3. When that happens, Microsoft's deal with Novell will come back to haunt them. Novell itself is now making an effort to patch up their relationship with the Linux community. They are currently offering big time financial support to the Electronic Frontiers Foundation for a project to bring legal challenges to strategic patents one by one. They have already managed to get a number of patents voided and this new source of funding will put that effort on steroids. THANK YOU MICROSOFT! Notice we are all standing up to cheer on this one as well right on que!
