So free software really doesn't give you freedom...
It is interesting that OSS advocates would phrase being able to get out of the constraints of an OSS license, to those of a proprietary license, as ?freedom?. I thought GPL/OSS was ?free? software. Yet another contradiction in the land of OSS.

Also, how do these companies make money from software? By relying on proprietary licenses. So then, you have a group of guys, many of whom initially jumped on the anti-proprietary software bandwagon, who now when push has come to shove, try to straddle the fence in order to survive.

Many people think that those guys over at the FSF are group of dummies. I can assure they are not. They very cleverly crafted the GPL and ran an effective campaign to have their flavor of OSS gain wide acceptance, with the full knowledge that it would undermine segments of the software industry, and software companies that embrace it.

Has anyone realized the Linux is not really a growth product (as far as the software industry is concerned): that it is more of a replacement product? Linux has not really expanded the software market or put forward innovations on the scale of proprietary software. Linux has for the most part only substituted lucrative software with cheap alternatives that barely provide any innovation. All Linux does is copy and take away value that was previously found in proprietary software.
