Java is so fat, bloated, and slow that it has always required multi-processor machines to execute reasonably fast.

The article also says "The Java platform has got a huge installed base, and the depth of what you can do in the Java platform is really huge."

It's huge alright. When I wiped Java, and all its dependencies off my Gentoo linux machine, I freed up 750 megs, yes, 3/4 of a gigabyte. Sheesh.
