M$ just keeps harvesting its own bitter fruit
For nearly two straight decades M$ has incorporated complexity for complexity's sake. The immediate result was a code base nearly impossible to debug and even harder to maintain. The END result is what we are now witnessing.

Even when they abandoned original kernels and started over, it was to no avail, because they never bothered to change the THINKING that led them to the first kernel hairball.

Windows 2000 shipped with over 56 THOUSAND(!!!) KNOWN ISSUES!!! (Which would not have been possible if not for the dominance of the monopoly they enjoyed at the time)

So now, saddled with this nightmare code base of their own creation yet again, they find themselves having to choose between either slashing features or slipping dates.

That's what happens when you have a corporation whose marketing ingenuity (in M$' case, that equals immorality/illegality) has always outstripped its technical ability, which was, and remains, mediocre at best.

The cheering thought for all those Linux users out there is this. It ain't ever gonna get better at M$, because the fish is rotten from the head down. M$ IS an accurate representation of Bill Gate$ vision...That's why he's bailing now. He knows every bit of bad karma he's put into the mix since M$' inception is just about due to come back to bite him in the ass...and he figured Balmer's butt could take a lot more chewing on than his own scrawny bum...in fact, Balmer will probably enjoy it.
