RH usually refers to it as a...
..."enthusiast" and "developer" version. I think RH labels Fedora this way, and dropped RH Linux, in order to leverage more money from big customers via the "enterprise" versions.

I think it would have been wiser of RH to keep RH Linux, but offer optional limited support (e.g. downloading updates, email support) for it on a paid-subscription basis, even though pushing the "enterprise" flavor, with costlier and more extensive support, is an understandable business decision.

In dropping RH Linux, RH has opened a sizable void in their offerings; namely, "professional desktop", "home office", "small business", and for entry-level Linux testing and introduction into mid-sized companies and government agencies. RH not only turned its back on these markets but also on the developers who were working in these areas.

It looks to me like SuSe 9.1 Professional just might offer a suitable replacement for RH Linux. Although I had poor luck with SuSe 8.something Professional (appeared to install normally but didn't notice that I had a LAN card), 9.1 looks worth a try.
