A general problems with Faith....

I have at least one Christian friend whom I can talk too. She belongs to the Calvanist sect of the faith, and from what I understand these people are VERY CONSERVATIVE...still I can talk to her and despite my many questions (many of which she can not answer) She does not get all foamy at the mouth and angry. So our talks continue even to this day.

So she tell's me my desire to have facts can never happen because one has to take a "leap of faith" It's sort of a right to passage to get closer to God or something to that effect.

So I ask her. "Can I use this (leap of faith) philosophy in my life in general?" And I give her an example. I meet some guy/gal who want to sell me the Golden Gate Bridge..it's a steel at $10,000.00 cash on the spot (He/she is a very motivated seller) Now for some reason I like this guy/gal he/she gives me the warm fuzzy's. I like what he/she says and the way they say it....I feel deep down inside they are being earnest and I have faith in their character. So based on those impressions I buy the bridge right there on the spot. I ask my friend "Was that wise" She sighs and rolls her eyes and says "Of coarse not...you can not and should not have faith in man/woman. God is the only one you use the concept of faith on"..or something to that effect. Then I go on...."How do you know you have faith in the right God?" After all there are many faiths in the world today are there not. Jew's, Roman Catholics, Muslims, Asian philosophys and the list goes on and on, and each has many branches and seperate sects of the major players. Each claims the same passage to God ie Faith. So how does one know for a fact that their leap of faith is in the right direction. To which she has often said "You just know" To which I reply "If you just know...then does the Muslim also just know that their leap was wrong?" If so how can you explain there being of a Billion Muslims? How about 500 million Hindu's and the list goes on and on. Do they all know that they are incorrect or do they also "just know"?

At this point she admits she has no idea...but to her credit she does still insist that I have to take that leap:) To which I ask her "What if I take that leap and end up a Muslim?" That one always gets her...hee hee hee
