cleaned www code?
Does this point to the lessening of sloppy code on websites?

If sites need to comply with both Flash and Silverlight modules, will it mean that the "good enough for 88% of users" phenomenon is out?

I have wondered if this practice has been encouraged "at the edges" by Microsoft in order to make things just a bit more difficult for Linux, Solaris etc. users and therefore make its own X platform more attractive.

"Sure, you can surf the web with Linux--but just when you need it, you will discover that the one key site for you won't open correctly. "I guess that IT pros who want to make things easier for themselves really ought to stick with Windows/flash/.net. . ."

But if Microsoft starts to attend to the wider spread of Silverlight, then the "choose us if you want 100% of web sites to open cleanly" has to change. After all, it is a bit late in the game to expect that Silverlight will *replace* Flash, isn't it?

Is this just more wishful thinking--hoping that someday the Internet will return to a tool for the computer-using world rather than as a marketing toy for one or another company?
