Here's what I was trying to recall
According to a report by the Reuters news service, Microsoft executives told Justice Department investigators that the company would not compete in the enterprise applications space within the next two years.

This had stuck in my memory, but I did not remember the particulars. Possibly small business and enterprise are considered different segments. But I've worked for and owned small businesses and now work for a very large enterprise, and I'll swear running the business isn't that different.
