Demonizing technology

This is just a retread of the old tactic of demonizing technology. As the article pointed out, the problem isn't any different whether the medium is P2P or any other communications mechanism, including good ole US Mail. The fact is that there are people willing to consume child porn, and people willing to make it.

The fact that the RIAA is willing to use kiddie porn as an argument against P2P shouldn't surprise anyone, THE VERY SAME ARGUMENT was used against Sony and the widespread introduction of the VCR. As is well-documented, the acceptance of VCR technology was driven more by porno videotapes than by availability of mainstream movies in the early 1980's.

In the end, a tool is just a tool. The blame lies squarely on those who abuse children, and those who enjoy seeing children abused. I am a great believer in personal responsibility: I don't have anything against porn in general, if the people who make it and consume it do it of their own free will. But when someone is forced or abused, child OR ADULT, then the abuser should be publicly whipped to give them a taste of their own medicine.
