Don't just look try, $0 Fedora v2 available next week
"People complain about the hight price of MS Office."

Say the people of West Africa where a copy of Office would
be a years salary? Doesn't seem fair to me.

"You may complain that Microsoft put many small
companies out of business when they incorporteded the
utilites those companies created into Windows or MS
Office."

Say when they deliberately targeted Netscape or Sun's Java
to prevent a cross-platform middle-ware which threatened
their monopoly? As a MS user what benefit did you get from
that?

"I have used NT4 Server and now Windows 2000 Server in
my office. I have had to reboot the server only once, and it
is running 24/7."

Really only once? Any patching done to these servers? 24x7
and, in particular, NT 4 cannot be used in the same
sentence.

"Now tell me how Linux and Java would make my job easier
or my office workers happy if I switched."

GNU/Linux is not suited to every solution but can offer
significant advantages as a hosting platform for a custom
application like you're describing, including:

-Opportunity to hop off the MS virii train. Improved security
-Freedom from licensing fees and expensive license
inventory and conformance tracking.
-Inexpensive thin client architecture.
-Greater choice of platform architectures and chips.
-Greater scaleability.
-Completely customise the entire platform to simplify the
user experience.
-Increased availability and manageability.

Give the free RedHat Fedora distribution a go when it is
released next week. Incorporating some fantastic leading
edge open source technologies it is a good introduction to
the Linux platform.
