re: Does Valentii get it?
Making a copy of a CD or DVD that YOU bought, for USE in YOUR home ONLY, is what WAS considered Fair Use, under old Copyright Law (Audio Cassette and VHS/Betamax). The entire Purpose of the DMCA is to get rid of Fair Use TOTALLY. RIAA and MPAA were against the Fair Use Clause to begin with.

Everyone in the USA knows that under Fair Use, it is Legal to Record Analog TV Broadcast for Later Viewing. Under the DIGITAL Millenium Copyright Act, it is ILLEGAL to Record DIGITAL TV broadcast for later viewing. Why do you think everyone is being FORCED to DIGITAL TV in a few years??!!??

I rarely record TV anyways, and NEVER copy or record Music. The only Music files I will use are MIDI (I love Classical and New Age: instrumental ONLY), but I can't stand the Piano. I do love the Harpsichord.

A Felony Violation of Law: I make copies of software CDROMs for my own use, to extend the life of the originals. Even though I don't share them, it is still a Felony. The copies get the wear and tear, while the originals are kept safe. I consider this to be fair use, even though it is not.

So I want to WATCH a DVD Movie in Linux. According to the RIAA and MPAA, ALL Linux users are PIRATES and THIEVES. NO exceptions!!! Well, guess where most (if not all) of the Piracy and thievery is occuring (OS)?? WINDOWS, cause that is where the Software for this exists (most of it).

I have a DVD player. Wait, it isn't so simple! I have to go through a separate VHS VCR in order to keep my TV/VCR's (combo) Tuner FUNCTIONAL! This means, that IF I want to record a Broadcast program on VCR, I cannot use my DVD player! The ONLY alternative is to use my Computer. Plug anything into my TV's A/V Input, cuts out the Tuner, with the ONLY way to get the Tuner back: UNPLUG the A/V Input!!

You might say 'get a better TV'. Not so simple, as my Social Security Disability income is currently $394 per Month. I would not even HAVE a computer, but for buying the parts, one at a time.

Some of us are stuck between a rock and a hard place.
