Speaking of "victims"
You are not taking away revenue from the "good, hard-working folks" by making a backup of something you already purchased. They are usually on straight salary and get the same check whether the movie is a hit or blows chunks.

Only the big-name stars and directors get residuals after the studio takes their cut. Those people usually also have a cut of the marketing, merchandising and overseas distribution rights, as well. Travolta gets planes, Arnie got cool vehicles not available to the general public, the people in "Star Wars" all own a percentage of the name, Jack Nicholson took scale to play the Joker but took a percentage of the merchandising.

Yeah, I feel sorry for those poor hard-working stiffs-NOT! When The Passion comes out on DVD, Mel Gibson will be getting another big payday since he owns it lock, stock and barrel. The poor flunkies that helped make the movie a success won't see a dime of it.

In a similar line, recording artists will tell you that they don't think the industry is working for them and they don't all think sharing is evil:

I know several in the movie industry that feel the same way. Valenti couldn't care less about the 10,000 low-end actors, etc. that work for scale. Nor does he *really* care about the behind the scenes people. He's protecting the bigwigs and the "important" actors.

It's all about the Benjamins!
