Get some education first
"It legalizes hacking," Jack Valenti, head of the Motion Picture Association of America, said of the proposed changes. "It allows you to make a copy or many copies. And the 1000th copy of a DVD, Mr. Chairman, is as pure and pristine as the original. You strip away all the protective clothing of that DVD and leave it naked and alone."

People really should try educating themselves first before making ingnorant comments like this. I don't think Jack even knows what DVD encryption is for. It sure isn't there there to stop you from copying the DVD. It's there to make sure you use the movie in the proper region code player. Nothing stops you from copying the entire DVD. What's Jack going to say when you 9.8 GB DVD burners go comercial sometime next year?

So you copy the DVD encryption and all with out even rattling the DMCA. You post the data on the net if you like, illegal but nothing stopping you from doing so with the DMCA. Downloaders then burn it and watch. How does amending the DMCA affect this at all?

My message to Jack Valenti is this. Either you go get some education so you know what you are talking about or retire and get out of the business in which you know nothing about! I can't believe the MPAA and people still take this guy seriously after his VCR blunder.
